During the course there are presentations and exercises to immediately apply the things which have been learnt by going through a realistic case study. Participants are asked to present the results before the group and “sell” their initiatives by showing plausible Business Cases. Furthermore, they have to work on their own.
Enterprise Analysis is in Requirements Engineering something which is conducted only recently. Traditionally, Business requirements were just given to the technical personnel. Mostly the requirements contained already a solution or solution sketch. Nobody from the technical department was asked to understand the Business Case or to question whether the suggested solution was the only alternative. This mindset is changing dramatically – modern Business Analysts understand the Business and the real, underlying Business Need before they lock into a solution approach. Furthermore, it is mandatory to understand the gaps and obstacles which might exist in an enterprise and which do not allow to satisfy the Business Need.
